Workplace Volunteering

Greater Ottawa County United Way can help your organization connect with our community to make it a better place. We will bring together your company’s priorities and the interests of your employees to change lives and build a stronger community.

More and more companies are investing employee time in community service through workplace volunteering. Join the numerous companies who complete projects through our program each year.

Why Get Involved?
Corporate – Corporate volunteerism can enhance corporate team building and improve links between companies and the community in which they operate. By connecting employees with community projects they see their United Way donation at work and gain a better understanding of the importance of United Way.

Individual – When individuals volunteer, they better understand the needs of people in their community. Volunteering provides training in leadership and skill development as well as a sense of self worth, accomplishment and pride in giving back.

Community – Volunteerism builds a better community for all of us. Agencies that serve the community feel corporate volunteerism increases community support for their program and the people they serve.

Harbor Industries - Harbor Industries has a year round program called Harbor People Helping People or HP2. Employees complete a project each quarter based on employees interests and with the help of the Volunteer Center. Their projects include a blood drive at the company, Day of Caring, holiday craft sale, and Harbor People Helping People Day where teams of 5 go to the homes of senior citizens to help with yard work & home repair projects. “Our volunteer program is a hit! Employees look forward to projects because they allow us to work side by side outside of the company and make a difference in the community” explains Deb Rink, Harbor Industries.
