Mentoring Matters

United Way has been a partner in the Ottawa County Mentoring Collaborative since its formation. We believe that every youth deserves a positive adult role model and we are committed to supporting area mentoring programs as they attempt to reach that goal.

The evidence is overwhelming that volunteerism and the mentoring of children at risk, are among the most successful means of preventing drug use, teenage pregnancy, delinquency, and truancy. (America’s Promise CEO\ Raymond G. Chambers) Youth in local mentoring programs agree that having an adult role model helps them to set higher expectations for themselves.

“I have learned to be a better person to others and myself.”
