2004-2005 Community Solutions Campaign Update

January 24, 2005 - As of today, Monday, January 24, 2005, Greater Ottawa County United Way & Volunteer Center has raised 91% or $2,098,320 of its $2.3 million goal thanks to the generosity of individuals and companies in our community.

“We are proud of everyone who has stepped up to the plate and are very confident that we will hit our $2.3 million goal in mid February, thanks to the generosity of companies and individuals in our community,” says Chris Cassell, Fifth Third Bank and the 2004-05 Campaign Chair. “The real work we do is affecting change in our neighborhoods. A crucial piece of that work is raising the necessary resources so our funded programs have the tools to continue positively impacting our community.”

United Way is currently recruiting volunteers from through out the county to serve on Community Investment Panels. Community Investment is the process in which volunteers come together to decide what needed programs receive United Way funding. “This process is a unique feature of United Way. Local volunteers review programs, financial reports and assess the positive impact that each service has on an individual,” says Cassell. “I highly suggest this process to anyone who would like to see how their money is invested in quality programs and being used to positively change people’s lives.”
