United Way & Volunteer Center Seeks Projects for Day of Caring

View Flyer

August 11, 2004 - Greater Ottawa County United Way and Volunteer Center is in need of projects for volunteers to work on during the Fourth Annual Day of Caring, which will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2004. These projects need to be “Done in a Day” type work that a volunteer team can spend a half day working on. Teams from companies, schools, churches, families and service clubs are currently being assembled to complete these projects.

“Each year more and more people are wanting to get out on this day and make a difference,” says Adam Twa, Volunteer Center Coordinator, Greater Ottawa County United Way & Volunteer Center. “This year we’re anticipating the same response, which is why we need the community’s help to find meaningful projects for our volunteers.”

Projects range from a senior citizen who needs help with yard and home maintenance and reading to children, to a non-profit organization that would like to brighten their office with a fresh coat of paint and building a community playground. “It’s wonderful to see the types of projects that people submit when they take a little time to see what is going on in their neighborhoods on their way home or to work.” Says Twa.

Project request forms are available by calling United Way & Volunteer Center at 842-7130 or 396-7811 or by email at atwa@ottawaunitedway.org. Please direct questions and ideas to Adam Twa, Volunteer Center Coordinator.
