United Way & Volunteer Center Celebrates
Volunteers and National Volunteer Week with Red Ribbons
March 26, 2004 - Greater Ottawa County
United Way & Volunteer Center is recognizing volunteers
with a Red Ribbon Campaign during this year’s
National Volunteer Week, April 18-24. United Way &
Volunteer Center is encouraging all organizations who
utilize volunteers’ talents to order red ribbons
in the shape of a “v” for “volunteer”
and give them to their volunteers to wear during National
Volunteer Week.
“So many things in our community are created
and done by volunteers and often times, people don’t
realize it.” Says Adam Twa, United Way
& Volunteer Center Program Coordinator. “The
Red Ribbon Campaign during National Volunteer Week is
a great way for not only volunteers to be recognized
for their time and talents they share, but by wearing
the ribbon, we are able to see the number of people
out in our community volunteering on a daily basis.”
National Volunteer Week is a week dedicated to honoring
those who spend their time volunteering to better our
community and is the 30th annual celebration of volunteers.
This theme for this year’s National Volunteer
Week is “Volunteers Inspire by Example.”
“Everyday volunteers are doing great things.”
Says Dillenbeck. “From those who work with our
youth to those who help us in emergency situations,
volunteers inspire us by leading as examples to us all.”
If you are a volunteer or have volunteers who help
you, participate in United Way & Volunteer Center’s
Red Ribbon Campaign. For more information and to order
ribbons, contact Adam Twa at 396-7811 or go
online at www.gouwvc.org for an order form.
