Greater Ottawa County United Way's Campaign a Success
Greater Ottawa County United Way has officially completed its annual campaign, and Thursday night announced campaign results and honored outstanding volunteers at its annual Celebration Dinner. One of the highlights of the event, held at Spring Lake Country Club, was the announcement of a successful campaign raising $2,109,939. Also among the evenings celebrations were accolades given to volunteers and organizations recognizing them for their leadership efforts during the 2007-08campaign and participation in volunteer activities throughout the year.

 

Valentine’s Sweeter as United Way Surpasses 80% Mark in Annual Campaign
This Valentine’s Day is going to be a little sweeter for Greater Ottawa County United Way as they have reached the 86% mark in their annual campaign. This means that just over $1,808,00 of the $2.1 million goal has been raised thus far.

Retirees, Anonymous Challenge Help Fuel United Way Campaign
Every bit counts, and as Greater Ottawa County United Way is rounding out its annual campaign, officials report that two separate strategies used this year have helped them close in on their $2.1 million goal. Along with a successful new appeal to retirees throughout Ottawa County, an anonymous $30,000 challenge has attracted first-time donors and prompted others to increase their gifts.

United Way in Search of Community Investment Volunteers

Greater Ottawa County United Way is seeking interested community members, who live and/or work in Ottawa County, to have a voice in the funding of human service programs in our communities. Community Investment volunteers focus on the areas of Healthy Communities, Strong Families, and Thriving Kids. Volunteers need to simply have an interest in helping to better his/her community through United Way’s Investment Process and can choose a focus area and panel that is based on their interests and time schedule.

Greater Ottawa County United Way Reaches 41% Mark in Annual Campaign
Representatives at Greater Ottawa County United Way are thankful for more than the turkey on their plates this Thanksgiving. Along with reaching the 41% mark in the annual campaign with $862,790 of the $2.1 million goal having been raised thus far, staff at our local United Way are grateful for the outpouring of generosity from investors.

Greater Ottawa County United Way Reaches 20% Mark in Annual Campaign
It’s official. Representatives at Greater Ottawa County United Way are happy to announce that they have reached the 22% mark in the annual campaign. Key persons in the campaign placed the first sticker on the local goal thermometers today, denoting that $474,105 of the $2.1 million goal has been raised thus far.

Greater Ottawa County United Way Kicks Off Campaign with Day of Caring
Regardless of what was in store for the weather, today Ottawa County was shining with volunteers performing good deeds. Today, Thursday, September 20 marks Greater Ottawa County United Way’s Annual Campaign Kick-off and 7th Annual Day of Caring. Over 600 hundred volunteers were mobilized today to help make Ottawa County communities a little better. United Way’s annual campaign officially kicked off during the celebration lunch for volunteers at Yogi Bear Camp and Resort.

Greater Ottawa County United Way's Day of Caring: Projects and Volunteers Needed
The Seventh Annual Day of Caring put on by Greater Ottawa County United Way’s Volunteer Center, will take place on Thursday September 20, 2007. Each year hundreds of corporate and student volunteers take to the streets of Ottawa County meeting needs of local agencies and citizens. However, United Way officials say there is still a big need for more volunteers to complete important projects on the 20th of September.

State of Michigan and United Way Recognize Students for Service
Greater Ottawa County United Way’s Volunteer Center, in partnership with the State of Michigan, would like to recognize high school students in Ottawa County for their volunteer efforts through the Student Service Learning Program. High school students registered in this program, will receive the Michigan Student Service Learning Medallion and a certificate signed by the governor, upon completing 400 service learning civic hours by the time he/she graduates.

United Way Promotes Two New Development Directors
Greater Ottawa County United Way is proud to announce the new Co-Directors of Development, Angie Barksdale and Holly Johnson. At the end of February, Barksdale and Johnson, who were both Directors of Community Involvement for the South and North parts of the county respectively, were promoted to the positions of Co-Directors of Development for the organization.

United Way Campaign Finale
Greater Ottawa County United Way’s annual Community Solutions Campaign is officially complete and the successes were announced to attendees at their annual Celebration Dinner last night, Tuesday, March 13th. One of the highlights of the evening was the announcement of a successful campaign raising $2,054,108. Also among the evenings celebrations were accolades given to volunteers and organizations recognizing them for their leadership efforts during campaign and participation in volunteer activities throughout the year.

Volunteer Stars Nomination Forms Now Available
Greater Ottawa County United Way's Volunteer Center is helping the stars shine a brighter over Ottawa County during National Volunteer Week, April 15-21, 2007. United Way's Volunteer Center is inviting community members to nominate a Volunteer Star who has gone above and beyond and impacted someone's life by sharing their time and talents. Nominated Volunteer Stars will be spotlighted during National Volunteer Week.

Greater Ottawa County United Way is proud to announce that they have reached the second milestone in this year’s annual campaign. United Way officials are able to report that this year’s campaign has reached $1.4 million.

Thanks for Giving
Greater Ottawa County United Way is proud to announce that they have reached one of the first milestones in this year’s annual campaign. United Way volunteers and staff would also like to say, “thanks for giving” to all of those community members that have helped United Way reach this first milestone. Representatives from around the county are building the house by placing the first sticker on United Way house signs.

Paying It Forward
The agencies who give their best to our community on a daily basis through their health and human services programs, keep giving of themselves even more. Every year, Greater Ottawa County United Way’s partner agencies also participate in United Way’s annual campaign, raising money for the general Community Investment Fund. But, this year, the staff of those agencies that are historically thought of as being the receivers of United Way’s investments, have nearly doubled their contribution efforts to give back to the United Way system by “paying it forward.”

Sign of the Times
Greater Ottawa County United Way revamping the traditional campaign goal thermometer that goes up every fall is a sign of the times. The new signs represent United Way’s focus which is not on the amount of money raised, but instead on the impact of the good works done in our community.

United Way Announces Patrick Moran as New Director

Moran, who has been the Chief Executive Officer of the local Tri-Cities Family YMCA, will officially take the post with United Way on September 11, 2006.
