United Way Cares: United Way is committed to increase family stability by overcoming barriers in order to live a self-sufficient lifestyle by helping families and individuals overcome immediate crisis, or their dependency to drugs and alcohol, and give them tools to live a self-sufficient lifestyle.

 

It’s not the fact that: 409 people in a United Way funded counseling program spent approximately 3,272 hours in individual and group counseling.

what matters is:  85% of clients in a United Way funded counseling program reported an improvement in family relationships and 88% reported improvement in their stress levels.

 

United Way Focus:

  • Outpatient/inpatient substance abuse counseling
  • Emergency and transitional housing
  • Disaster relief, preparedness and prevention
  • Prescription assistance

what matters.: 75% of residents in a United Way funded transtional housing program were able to locate permanent housing upon leaving the program.

More than 100 community leaders and social service agency directors gathered at The Pinnacle Center in Hudsonville on September 30 as Greater Ottawa County United Way hosted the launch and "green release" of the 2008 Community Assessment for Ottawa County.  For more information, click here.
 
 
2008 DAY OF CARING September 18, 2008
More than 600 community members from area businesses, schools, churches and service organizations will perform service projects at approximately 70 sites throughout Ottawa County, coordinated by Greater Ottawa County United Way’s Volunteer Center. This is a way for individuals and organizations to give back to our community and extend a helping hand to our neighbors in need—in short, to LIVE UNITED.
