Strengthening Families Giving families tools to build and sustain healthy relationships United Way Cares: United Way is committed to strengthening families through support and development of life skills by providing them with support and counseling that most effectively meet the family’s need and empower individuals. It’s not the fact that: 28 families in a United Way funded transitional housing program spent 3 hours per week at budgeting and parenting classes for an average of one year. That is a total of 4,368 hours of spent building life skills to better themselves and their families. what matters is: 75% of residents in a United Way funded transitional housing program located permanent housing upon leaving the program.
